Arup is seeking a talented and motivated Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer with ten to fifteen years of relevant experience to work in our Smart Mobility and ITS team in our New York City office. The successful candidate will share our passion for delivering successful and sustainable project outcomes that help 'shape a better world'. The candidate will have experience in the planning, design, delivery and operation of Smart Mobility and ITS solutions within complex and challenging environments.


As a Smart Mobility and ITS Leader at Arup, you will work as part of an integrated team to support the planning, delivery and growth of the Smart Mobility and ITS consulting practice. Specifically, you will be responsible for:


• Project Management of large Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) Projects with multiple agency clients
• Project Management and direct technical support of Smart Mobility and ITS planning, design and deployment projects in the Americas
• Development of strategic planning and Concept of Operations documents
• ITS technical expertise input into Transportation master planning
• Development of ITS system requirements and design documentation
• Presenting designs for review by technical and non-technical audiences
• Support of ITS system testing and verification and user validation activities
• Condition assessments of existing ITS infrastructure and assets
• Technology lifecycle planning
• Supporting the development of skills and services to target emerging areas of Smart Mobility focus including Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, and Smart Cities
• Business Development and Client Management in the Americas to identify appropriate clients, win projects and help grow a pipeline of work
• Participating in local and national Professional Associations


Requirements:


• Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in electrical engineering, computer science, science or related field
• Ten to fifteen years of experience in the transportation sector
• Effective communication skills
• Client management and business development experience
• Strategic Planning with building a new or growing an existing business service
• Experience with working within integrated and multi-disciplinary teams on large projects
• Experience with some of the following transportation technology: Advanced Traffic Management Systems, Autonomous Vehicles, Connected Vehicles, Traffic Signals and Adaptive Control, Transit Signal Priority, Electronic Toll Collection, CCTV surveillance systems, electronic signage, traffic detectors and communication networks
• Familiarity with current and emerging best practices on the planning, design, delivery and operation of Smart Mobility solutions, Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) Systems, High Occupancy Tolling (HOT) roads and Multi-Modal Traffic Management Centers
• Certification as PE and PMP is a plus
