Senior Planner Do you want to be a part of making a great Pacific Northwest city the most livable, prosperous and thriving place it can be? We are seeking a positive, collaborative and inspired individual to join the City of Eugene's land use planning team to help turn our community vision into reality. This is a part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week, and plays a key role in promoting and implementing the community's newly adopted vision to accommodate future growth while preserving and enhancing what we love about our city. Salary range for this position is $40,198.08-$51,991.68 to reflect part-time hours of the role. This position includes serving as lead on efforts to bring the city's land use code into better alignment with the vision, managing current planning staff and projects, and working to continually evolve our services (including customer service, communications, technology and processes).

Responsibilities · Implement the city's land use code and adopted land use plans consistent with the community's vision; · Lead efforts to amend the land use code consistent with community vision · Supervise, mentor and motivate staff; · Provide direction and set a personal example for excellent customer service; · Organize and manage complex tasks or projects to completion, including creatively negotiating barriers, within a fixed time frame; · Possess strong interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people; · Clearly and confidently organize and present information and conduct meetings; · Ability to carry multiple complex projects at one time and to calmly handle stress; · Exhibit leadership to staff, work teams and fellow employees; · Review and process complex land use applications and development proposals and comprehensive plan amendments; · Regularly attend meetings and public hearings, some of which are outside regular working hours; · Work well independently and within a dynamic team environment. Minimum Qualifications: Experience and Training
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: · Five years of increasingly responsible professional urban planning experience. · Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in urban and regional planning, architecture, or a closely related field. A Master's degree in a related field is desirable. Ability to pass reference and background checks.
