ARCHITECTS ONLINE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have a question try this area or search the help sections in the general navigation:

Q. Why can't I enable my jobs?

A. To enable new jobs you must complete the required fields in the 'my contact details' section first. If you have done this and you are still experiencing the same problem, it may be that you are trying to put on more jobs than your payment package allows. Please contact the Architects Online design team using the 'contact' links on this page or in 'about us' via the navigation on the left.

Q. Why do many of the menus for job input and search fields have fixed drop down lists?

A. Architects-Online is a database driven site. For the searches to throw up meaningful results there has to be a limit on variable criteria. If everyone is using the same parameters results will make more sense.

Q. Why do the navigation buttons (like the one to the right) not 'work' in the jobs section?

A. They do work. The jobs section runs on a separate domain and uses significantly different programming code from the rest of the site. The java menus in the job section are dynamic, that is to say they alter their content depending on what you are doing (for example 'Log on' becomes 'Log off' after you have logged on!). As a consequence the other links to the rest of the site, are simple 'click on hyperlinks'. Once you reach the destination of those links the menus become expandable.

Q. Why are there character limits on some field the ads?

A. Practicality. Too much data makes for an unwieldy appearance and slows down the searches.

Q. Why do I have to log on?  I didn't have to before on Architects-Online.

A. You don't have to. We understand not everyone wants to share their desire to change jobs so you can use the site without logging on. However technology now allows for a high degree of automation which gives a much greater interactive experience than was possible before. This is now available but needs a database to function and the database needs an identifier for you.

Q. If I register and log on is my personal data safe?

A. Yes. Employment Services Limited is registered under current Data Protection legislation and undertakes not to sell or make available data on individuals available to any third party.

Q. When searching for jobs and viewing job details, I have the option to 'apply'. But what do I do if I don't want to apply?

A. Just press 'search' again in the left hand search box. Your search criteria will be saved from your previous search, so this will reload the search results page again.

Q. I have noticed some of the jobs I applied to are no longer listed in My job History?

A. When a job is deleted from the site, references to it are deleted with it.  This is because otherwise you would end up with month of applications to jobs that were no longer available.

Q. I have applied to a few jobs and have noticed that in the 'my job history area' the date does not match the day I applied?

A. The date is the date the advertisement was posted onto Architects Online.

Q. When searching the jobs I find that the company field defaults to the advertiser I last looked at?

A. This is intentional. It means that you can see a summary of all the jobs that advertiser may have (particularly relevant if it's an agency). You can clear it by pressing Reset in the search area box.

Q. I do not receive an email when I try and log on?

A. If you do not receive an email quickly, try the ‘forgotten your password’ option on the log on screen. If this doesn’t work, check your anti-spam software.  In recent months many ISP’s have adopted stringent anti-spamming filtering which sometimes blocks legitimate (albeit automated) emails. If you cannot retrieve your password email us on info@architects-online.co.uk and we will give you the password.

Q. Can I change my password?

A. Yes. Log on using your old password. In the 'My Account Screen' go to 'My Password' where you have the option to change it.

If you cannot find the answer to your question email us at info@architects-online.co.uk
